Throughout my life I have been very physical and active in martial arts and out door sports; which is what lead me to begin studying and working with massage. I started my career in martial arts as a child with Tae kwon do and Shotokan Karate. By the age of 12 I was competing nationally and internationally on the junior olympics team for Shotokan Karate. At the age of 17 in 2002; I found a new passion within the world of martial arts. A complex culturally rich puzzle of a martial art called Capoeira. which pulled me into its magic and gave a direction to my young life in ways I would never expect from the average sport or martial art.
Capoeira is an Afro-brazilian martial art which developed within the mixed cultures of colonial era Brazil. Capoeira has evolved into many contemporary forms, used for many purposes besides direct combat. Community, physical and mental training, performance art skills as well as personal and interpersonal development are amongst the many valuable human aspects which I have found valuable for myself and others in capoeira.
Since my capoeira career began in 2002 I have proudly accepted guidance in the art from Mestre Galo, Mestre Acordeon, Mestra Suelli and Mestre Ra; and many other well developed teachers within the United Capoeira Association. (UCA) Based in California, Colorado and several other states within the USA. Over the course of my career in capoeira I have taught classes to adults and children on 3 continents, as well as participated in countless hours of capoeira conferences to interact with and learn from my peers and the teachers who came before me in capoeira.
